Stargate Abilene is Crusoe’s eight-building AI data center campus on the Lancium Clean Campus in Abilene, in Taylor County, Texas, leased to Oracle, which runs it for OpenAI as the first Stargate site. Crusoe began construction in June 2024 and on March 18, 2025, announced a second phase of six more buildings, bringing the campus to eight buildings, about 4 million square feet and 1.2 gigawatts, with each building designed to run up to 50,000 Nvidia GB200 NVL72 systems. On May 21, 2025, Crusoe, Blue Owl Capital and Primary Digital Infrastructure announced the second phase of a $15 billion joint venture to fund the campus. The Abilene City Council approved 85 percent, 10-year property tax abatements for the site in February 2025 and on Aug. 28, 2025, split them into per-building agreements covering all eight buildings. Crusoe said on Sept. 30, 2025, that the first phase was running on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, after Oracle began delivering GB200 racks in June 2025.

On its Sept. 10, 2026, earnings call, Oracle said six of the eight buildings, representing 618 megawatts and 75 percent of the campus, had been delivered, that it delivered 131,000 GPUs at Abilene during the quarter, and that OpenAI’s GPT-6 Astra was trained at the site. Oracle said on June 25, 2026, that construction had logged nearly 20 million worker hours with up to 9,000 workers onsite. The additional 600-megawatt expansion near the campus that OpenAI described as “potential” on Sept. 23, 2025, has not been announced as proceeding by OpenAI, Oracle or Crusoe. On March 27, 2026, Crusoe announced a separate 900-megawatt campus for Microsoft on adjacent land, with two buildings and its own on-site power plant, taking projected capacity across the full Abilene site to 2.1 gigawatts; Crusoe expects the first Microsoft building to be energized in mid-2027. A Crusoe application to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality for additional on-site power generation to serve the data center buildings, air permit No. 182126, is pending.
